How much are you supposed to spend on an Engagement Ring?
How much are you supposed to spend on an engagement ring?
This is probably one of the most common first questions you will research and ask friends, when you decide to embark on finding an engagement ring to ask the big question with. So here at Aurus London we have put together some key points to consider when budgeting for your engagement ring. Once you have a decided budget, it will become less daunting when it comes to designing, as at Aurus London we will always design around your budget and create the perfect ring to suit you.
Question number 1: Are you looking for a 'place holder ring' before allowing your partner to help design their dream engagement ring?
If you know that your partner would love a unique engagement ring, one of the most popular options with our bespoke engagement ring design service, is to discuss budget and prices with our designer Sophie in order to maintain discretion. She will then design up some ideas for you to preview, you can then choose from our engagement ring samples (that look incredibly realistic) to propose with. You can then both come into the showroom and discuss the designs and adapt as necessary with your now fiance! This ensures the perfect design is created, whilst keeping your budget secret, and 'Will you marry me' is asked with a beautiful ring.

Question number 2: Are you going to want to upgrade the ring in a few years?
Ask yourself whether you will want to spend more money on the 'dream engagement ring' in the future, and for now this one will serve as a 'lovely ring' until then. If you're thinking about this, what we would always recommend is spending a little bit more now, to save extra costs in the future, consider what you can absolutely afford, and go forward with that budget in mind.
Question number 3: Are you saving for any other big life events?
We know that often at this point in your life there will be a house you're saving for, of course the wedding to follow, and maybe a little one. So if you're thinking about other budgets on top of your engagement ring budget, think about a bespoke engagement ring, designed with a modest budget in mind, our blog post Engagement Rings for £1500 and under shows just what beauties you can get with smaller budget.

Question number 4: Which diamond quality characteristic is most important to you?
The 4C's make up a diamond, and each characteristic has varying impacts on the cost of a diamond. Here is a brief description of each:
Carat (size) Does your partner want a big rock on their hand, or would they rather have something more discreet and classic?
Colour (whiteness) Is the whiteness and brightness of the diamond something you will consider when you look at it? (remember you will be looking at the ring every day, you have to love it too!)
Cut (level of sparkle) Round brilliant diamonds are usually where the cut plays the most importance, the amount of cuts to the stone determines just how much light it refracts. At Aurus we work with Very good or excellent cuts upwards so there is no real need for you to worry about this with an Aurus Diamond!
